The Africa Institute (Global Studies University), Sharjah, UAE, is seeking applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor in African and African Diaspora music, musicology, or ethnomusicology within the Department of Humanities.
The successful candidate must be specialized in research related to one or more regions within the African continent and are encouraged to have expertise in the African and African diaspora music.

Key Responsibilities- Full‑time, 9‑month faculty position at The Africa Institute, Sharjah, UAE, starting in the Fall semester.
- Responsible for teaching two courses per semester in musicology and ethnomusicology (total four courses per academic year).
- Provide guidance and supervision to graduate students.
- Actively contribute to the interdisciplinary community within the Department and across the Institute.
- Engage in an active program of scholarly research and publication.
- Participate in committees and contribute to curriculum development.
- Supervise student research, master’s theses, and doctoral dissertations.
- Ph.D. in African music, musicology, or ethnomusicology at the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum.
- Commitment to providing students with diverse learning experiences through teaching, research, and service.
