Position Summary

The Africa Institute (Global Studies University), Sharjah, UAE, is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor in African and African Diaspora music, musicology, or ethnomusicology to join the Department of Humanities. The role is a full‑time, 9‑month position starting in Fall 2025.

• Teach two courses per semester in musicology and ethnomusicology, totaling four courses during the academic year.
• Guide graduate students and supervise master’s theses and doctoral dissertations.
• Develop and contribute to an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum.
• Engage in an active program of scholarly research and publication.
• Participate in departmental and institutional committees.

• Ph.D. in African music, musicology, or ethnomusicology at the time of appointment.
• Specialized research experience in one or more regions of the African continent and expertise in African and African diaspora music.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and commitment to diverse student populations.

• Salary commensurate with degree and experience.
