Job PurposeAssociate Professor or Full Professor of Public Health in the Department of Family & Community Medicine & Behavioral Sciences, College of Medicine, responsible for teaching quantitative research methods, advanced biostatistics, and epidemiology (communicable and/or non-communicable diseases) across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Health Program.
- Deliver and lead doctoral-level teaching in Public Health, with primary responsibility for Quantitative Research Methods, Advanced Biostatistics, and Epidemiology (Communicable and/or Non-Communicable Diseases), employing innovative and student-centered learning approaches that support achievement of the PhD program learning outcomes.
- Supervise and mentor PhD students throughout their academic and research journey, including dissertation proposal development, research design, advanced statistical analysis, scientific writing, publication, dissertation completion, and successful defense.
- Develop doctoral researchers' competencies in generating original knowledge through advanced public health data collection, analysis, interpretation, and evidence synthesis, enabling graduates to address complex population health challenges and contribute to the advancement of discipline.
- Design, implement, and evaluate student assessments using comprehensive and research-focused methods, including qualifying examinations, structured oral assessments, portfolios, literature reviews, research proposals, seminars, manuscripts, and dissertation milestones, ensuring alignment with program learning outcomes and quality standards.
- Maintain active, externally recognized research activities through high-quality publications, grant acquisition, interdisciplinary collaborations, and engagement with national and international public health stakeholders, contributing to the research profile and strategic goals of the University.
- Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, accreditation, and continuous program improvement, including evaluation of course and program learning outcomes, doctoral student progression, and enhancement of teaching and research practices.
- Provide academic leadership and institutional service through participation in departmental, college, and university committees; support doctoral seminars, research activities, and scholarly events; and foster collaborations that strengthen public health research, policy, leadership, and community impact within the UAE and internationally
- Contribute to undergraduate community health education through teaching, academic advising, curriculum development, and student supervision; foster undergraduate involvement in research and community-engaged scholarship; and actively participate in departmental initiatives, outreach programs, and partnerships that advance community health, public health practice, and population well-being.
Skills and
Qualifications:
- Must hold an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) or MD (Doctor of Medicine), or equivalent medical qualification as background, and a PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a closely related field from a top-ranked and internationally reputable university.
- Minimum of 10 years at the rank of Associate Professor or 15 years at the rank of Full Professor of progressive academic experience in quantitative research methods in Public Health, and advanced biostatistics and epidemiology or a related discipline in a recognized higher education or research-intensive institution.
- Demonstrated international academic and research profile, with active engagement in global public health research networks, collaborations, conferences, and scholarly communities.
- Strong and sustained research impact demonstrated by a robust publication record in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, with an H-index of at least 30 (Associate Professor level) and 50 (Professor level) in Scopus/Web of Science or equivalent databases.
- Proven track record of doctoral-level supervision, including successful completion of PhD dissertations, with evidence of student publications in indexed journals.
