Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Librarian to join our team at a prestigious library in Sharjah, UAE. The ideal candidate will have a passion for knowledge and promoting literacy, along with excellent communication and customer service skills. This role requires someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and is able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the library, including circulation, reference services, collection development, and programming
- Assist patrons with locating materials, using library resources, and providing recommendations
- Create engaging displays and activities to promote reading and learning
- Conduct research on various topics to assist patrons in finding relevant information
- Catalog new materials using the library's cataloging system
- Maintain accurate records of circulation statistics and other data
- Train and supervise library staff members on policies, procedures, and technology usage
- Collaborate with other departments or organizations to provide educational programs or events for the community
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in literature, technology, and library practices
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Previous experience working in a library setting preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills
- Proficient in using computer systems and technology
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Fluency in English required; additional language skills are a plus
