Westernport Water is seeking a strategic and solutions-focused Senior Engineer with strong leadership, technical expertise, and project management skills. This role will drive the successful delivery of large water and wastewater infrastructure projects across our network and operational areas which covers
300 square kilometres, encompassing Millowl (Phillip Island) and mainland communities from The Gurdies to Archies Creek.
- Support the Manager Engineering & Projects by leading the delivery of Westernport Waters long-term capital works program, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Provide expert engineering advice across design, feasibility, cost estimation, tendering, and contract management.
- Oversee water and wastewater projects to ensure alignment with approved design standards and technical consistency.
- Operate within the Project Management Framework and support cross-departmental operations with engineering expertise.
- Champion a safety-first culture while delivering exceptional customer service and clear, tailored communication across stakeholders.
- The candidate is required to have a tertiary qualification in engineering leading to admission to the Institute of Engineers (Australia) for professionally qualified engineers;
- At least 7 years’ experience leading Civil or Mechanical Engineering projects within water and wastewater services
- Extensive experience in leading the application of project management frameworks, documentation and systems;
- Substantial knowledge and experience in design and/or construction principles and practises supported by high level contract management skills;
- Demonstrated track record leading and delivering projects on time and within budget;
- Knowledge of current developments and regulations applying to the water industry including a working knowledge and understanding of the Water Act (1989) and associated Acts applicable to the water industry.
- A current driver’s licence suitable for Victoria.
- Engineering degree and membership with Engineers Australia.
- At least 7 years’ experience leading Civil or Mechanical Engineering projects within water and wastewater services.
- Proven experience in leading the development and application of project management frameworks, documentation and systems;
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in design and/or construction principles and practises supported by high level contract management skills;
- Demonstrated track record delivering projects on time and within budget;
- Knowledge of regulations applying to the water industry including an understanding of the Water Act (1989).
