Overview
Wood is looking for Mechanical Construction Work Pack Engineer to join our Engineering team in Sharjah, UAE.
Responsibilities- Work pack Development: Prepare detailed mechanical construction workpacks, including scope of work, job steps, task breakdown, materials list, welding requirements, consumables, manpower, equipment, and QA/QC requirements. Incorporate P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings, equipment datasheets, installation details, and vendor documentation. Define hold points, inspection test requirements, WPS/PQR, torque/tensioning specifications, and critical lift plans where required. Ensure all workpacks reflect the latest engineering deliverables and revision control.
- Construction Readiness: Conduct job walks to validate constructability and identify field constraints. Coordinate with planners to develop job sequencing, activity durations, and links into the Level 4 schedule. Identify materials, tools, rigging, temporary supports, scaffolding, and lifting equipment required for each activity. Ensure all materials and fabrication requirements are available at site before execution.
- Interface & Coordination: Act as the interface between construction, engineering, procurement, QA/QC, welding/NDT teams, and commissioning. Collaborate with multi-discipline engineers (civil, structural, E&I, piping) to avoid clashes and ensure integrated workpacks. Support pre-job meetings, daily toolbox briefings, and coordination with subcontractors. Ensure seamless transition from construction to pre commissioning/commissioning phase.

Support field safety teams with risk assessments, lifting studies, and hazardous task reviews. Ensure compliance with project HSE standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Quality Assurance: Define inspection points, NDT requirements, mechanical completion checklists, hydrotest packs, reinstatement requirements, and punch listing. Work closely with QA/QC teams to ensure all work is executed according to standards and specifications. Review as-built documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Construction Support: Provide technical support during field execution, resolving issues related to drawings, fit-up, weldability, alignment, or installation. Engage with engineering for queries, technical deviations, or IFC updates. Monitor progress, update workpacks as necessary, and support resolution of site generated NCRs or punch items.
- Documentation & Handover: Support mechanical completion, handover dossiers, and system/subsystem boundary walkdowns.
