Role OverviewPerformance Energy is supporting a major Middle East land drilling campaign focused on underground gas storage wells utilising Coil Tubing Drilling within UBD / MPD environments.
We are seeking experienced Wellsite / Field / Operations Drilling Engineers with strong CTD and well engineering fundamentals to support a long-term contract on a technically demanding project. This is a rig‑based role operating in high‑pressure, underbalanced conditions with close integration between drilling, geology, and production teams.
This opportunity suits engineers who are confident leading wellsite operations, interfacing with service crews, and managing real‑time well performance in complex gas storage applications.
Key Responsibilities- Act as Wellsite Focal Point between the CTD crew and the oil company representative
- Lead CTD operations in accordance with approved SOPs and well programmes
- Monitor and analyse flow regimes, production rates, injection rates, and gas production
- Utilise Well Flow modelling software for real‑time decision making
- Work closely with geologists and subsurface teams to identify fractures and optimise well objectives
- Maintain operational control within UBD windows of 1900‑2400 psi, managing an operating window of 200‑300 psi
- Ensure compliance with HSE, well control, and operational standards at all times

- Well Profile:
Vertical sections to approx. 11,000+ ft, followed by shoe track drill‑outs and laterals (~4,200 ft) - Sidetracks:
Open‑hole sidetrack (no whipstock) - Drilling System: 2‑phase (N2 & Water)
- Objective:
Identify fractures and inject produced gas for seasonal underground storage
- Proven experience using Well Flow software
- Strong background in CTD / MPD / UBD operations
- Demonstrated understanding of underbalanced drilling packages and pressure management
- Previous experience in a wellsite leadership role for a service company or operating company
- MPD / UBD experience as a Field or Wellsite Drilling Engineer
- Strong engineering decision‑making capability in real‑time drilling environments
- Ability to operate effectively in hot desert conditions and physically demanding roles
- OGUK Medical (mandatory)
- Well Control Certification - Supervisor Level
- IADC or IWCF accepted
- Rotation: 28 / 28
- Duration: 18 months
