Job DescriptionAs lead secondary design engineer – substation the person shall be capable of creating, reviewing and executing secondary engineering electrical design activities for substation and power distribution projects. The engineer will review BOQ, check vendor offers for protection relays/SAS/LVAC and DC systems, generate single line diagram (SLD), protection and control SLD, interlocking schemes, cable schedules, review schematics, propose SAS signal lists and detailed design drawings with drafters, and prepare calculations such as CT sizing, battery DG sizing, cable sizing and LV cable estimation.
Deliver outcomes on time as per project needs.
Experience in high voltage substation secondary design: minimum seven years with voltage levels 15 kV up to 500 kV covering both AIS and GIS. Bachelor’s degree (BTech or BSc equivalent) in electrical and electronics engineering is required. Experience working in multinational projects and ability to manage a team of engineers and drafters. MTech degree and site commissioning experience is an asset. Working level knowledge of power system studies is desired.
Key responsibilities- Timely completion of all deliverables
- Responsible for review of CRP (control relay panels) and automation drawings developed by the vendor
- Interact with site execution & cluster teams for clarification regarding the design of equipment
- Interact with vendor for clarification regarding compliances to technical specifications & comments and quality
- Coordinate with primary design engineer obtaining specification requirement of the client and checklist for evaluation from the project engineering managers
- Evaluate technical offers based on technical specification (requirement) of the client and timely submission to design lead (secondary) for review
- Prepare design calculations of CT / VT and battery sizing and develop DC & AC single line diagrams of a substation and submit to the design lead for checking
- Review bill of material and compare with the tender quantity
- Pre‑tender engineering including estimation of BOM (bill of materials) and offer reviews for secondary equipment
