Mechanical Engineer

Wood is currently recruiting for a Rotational Support / Remote Engineer - Mechanical to join our UAE business unit. This is a full‑time position in Sharjah, UAE. The rotational support Mechanical Engineer will provide day‑to‑day mechanical engineering support for site operations—handling queries and activities related to risks for the delivery of safe, reliable and compliant operations. The role collaborates closely with the site‑based team to ensure that identified long‑term engineering solutions are progressed to the appropriate team to reduce risk and grow production.

• Perform day‑to‑day mechanical engineering support to deliver immediate operations support, working closely with the site team to resolve issues under the direction of the Operations Engineering Manager.
• Ensure that asset mechanical engineering risks are understood, appropriately risk‑assessed, and actions driven to reduce risk within agreed time frames.
• Define static mechanical engineering operating envelopes, monitor health of static mechanical equipment, record and investigate excursions outside operating envelopes.
• Monitor static mechanical engineering KPIs and initiate corrective action as necessary.
• Provide mechanical engineering support to technical Management of Change (MoC) and Engineering Queries (EQ).
• Identify production vulnerabilities and optimisation opportunities to support production forecast and growth.
• Write, review, and recommend technical input into Site Operations Procedures (SOPs).
• Provide static mechanical engineering coaching to NOC and NGC engineers.
• Generate, revise, and review discipline technical documentation.

• Education: BSc or BEng or MEng (UK), BSc (US), or international equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering subject.
• Professional accreditation: Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer.
• Significant experience in an Operations Mechanical Engineering support role.
• Advanced technical knowledge and experience in engineering, with sound knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards and regulations, and the ability to initiate guidance on appropriate designs and systems to prevent, control and mitigate risks.
• Sound stakeholder management experience.
