Wood is recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join its UAE Business Unit, focusing on the execution of the engineering portion of a multi‑discipline engineering scope of work on one or more projects. This full‑time office‑based role in Sharjah, UAE requires travel.

Responsibilities
  • Execute the engineering portion of multi‑discipline scopes of work on one or more projects or work scopes.
  • Coordinate and complete the various engineering and start‑up aspects of projects while meeting HSSE, quality, schedule and budget performance goals.
  • Drive technical assurance of the assigned scope(s) of work and ensure technical excellence across all disciplines.
  • Manage, lead, support and supervise discipline engineering teams on the assigned scope(s) of work.
  • Train and mentor discipline engineering teams.
  • Act as the process owner: develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for engineering and technical work.
  • Enforce company values and behaviors, ensuring safe, reliable operations and client satisfaction.
  • Report to the Project Director.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Assist in incident investigations and monitor compliance with standards and processes.
  • Roll out and implement learning opportunities across the business.
  • Drive continual focus on process safety through the engineering team.
  • Drive the elimination of technical incidents through robust controls, incident reviews and lessons‑learned.
  • Organise, direct, control and evaluate the activities and operations of a multi‑discipline engineering team.
  • Assist in recruitment, selection, performance management, succession planning and promotion of resources.
  • Ensure adequate and competent personnel on projects/contracts.
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships, prepare specifications, explain proposals and present engineering reports.
  • Assign, coordinate and review the technical work of department or project teams.
  • Resolve complex technical and managerial issues and monitor integration of work.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures aligned with organizational objectives.
Qualifications
  • Typical requirement of 15+ years progressive experience in discipline engineering, managing detailed engineering and EPC assurance (PMC), with a strong technical background preferably from Process Engineering.
  • Recent experience as an Engineering Lead or Manager for at least 3 years.
  • Balance of technical and management/mentoring experience at relevant level and position.
  • Several years of supervisory experience with understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation, and health and safety.
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of engineering theories and techniques and high level of skill in applying this knowledge in managing the engineering function.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing people at all levels of the organization.
  • Skills in recruitment and selection, employee communication and management including performance management.
  • Good knowledge of the regulatory framework and associated legislation.
  • Current knowledge of industry and technology development within the area of expertise.
