Job Description

Wood is recruiting an Engineering Manager to join its UAE Business Unit to execute the engineering portion of a multi‑discipline scope of work on one or more projects. This full‑time office‑based role is based in Sharjah, UAE, with travel required.

• Execute the engineering portion of a multi‑discipline engineering scope of work on one or more projects.
• Coordinate and complete the various engineering and start‑up aspects of a project while meeting HSSE, quality, schedule, and budget performance goals.
• Provide technical excellence of the engineering portion across all disciplines.
• Drive technical assurance on the assigned scope(s) of work.
• Manage, lead, support, and supervise discipline engineering teams.
• Manage key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
• Develop, retain, and mentor motivated and competent people.
• Drive safety by design and pursue opportunities for innovation.
• Assume process owner responsibilities by developing and implementing policies, standards, and procedures for engineering and technical work.
• Contribute to the technical review, specifications, proposals, and presentation of engineering reports and findings.
• Identify and mitigate areas of risk and improvement opportunities, and pursue improvement opportunities.
• Assist in the management of recruitment, selection, transfers, performance management, succession planning, and promotion of resources.
• Ensure appropriate resources and competent personnel are assigned to projects/contracts and oversee workforce planning.
• Facilitate agreement between conflicting parties and resolve complex conflicts.
• Carry responsibility for the resolution of major problems for the engineering segment.

• Typically requires 15+ years progressive experience in discipline engineering, managing detailed engineering and EPC assurance (PMC) with a strong technical background, preferably in Process Engineering.
• Held a position of Engineering Lead or Manager for at least 3 years in the recent role.
• Balance of technical and management experience with mentoring at a relevant level.
• Several years of supervisory experience with knowledge of human relations, training, performance evaluation, and health and safety.
• Broad and extensive knowledge of engineering theories, techniques, and a high level of skill in applying this knowledge to manage the engineering function.
• Capable of representing the business and client‑to‑business associates in a professional manner.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing people at all levels of the organization.
• Skilled in forecast planning for people resources, recruitment and selection, employee communication, and performance management.
• Able to implement and embed standards and processes to effect delivery of engineering excellence.
• Good knowledge of the regulatory framework and associated legislation.
• Current knowledge of industry and technology development within the area of expertise.
• Expert in Engineering excellence.
