Engineering Manager
Overview
Wood is recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join its UAE Business Unit, focusing on execution of the engineering portion of a multi-discipline engineering scope on one or more projects. The position is a full-time office-based role in Sharjah, UAE with travel requirement.

Responsibilities- Responsible for execution of the engineering portion of a multi-discipline scope of work on one or more projects.
- Coordinate and complete various engineering and start-up aspects while meeting HSSE, quality, schedule, and budget performance goals.
- Ensure technical excellence across all engineering disciplines.
- Drive technical assurance on the assigned scope(s) of work.
- Manage and lead, support and supervise the discipline engineering teams on the assigned scope(s) of work.
- Manage and organize key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
- Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering work performed in the department.
- Direct application of existing principles and development of new policies aligned with OU, BU and corporate objectives.
- Lead process ownership, including regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments.
- Lead team training, mentoring and professional development.
- Maintain safety by design and drive opportunities for innovation.
- Lead project cost management, resource allocation and schedule planning.
- Provide expert resolution of complex technical problems and conflicts.
- Ensure delivery of engineering excellence through continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
- Typically 15+ years of progressive experience in discipline engineering, managing detailed engineering and EPC assurance (PMC), with a strong technical background preferably in process engineering.
- Held a position as Engineering Lead or Manager for at least 3 years.
- Solid balance of technical and management and mentoring experience at relevant level and position.
- Several years of supervisory experience with understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation and health and safety.
- Broad and extensive knowledge of engineering theories and techniques and a high level of skill in application of this knowledge in managing the engineering function.
- Capable of representing business and client-to-business associates in a professional manner.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing people at all levels of the organisation.
- Skilled in forecast planning for people resources.
- Skilled in recruitment and selection, employee communication, and performance management.
- Able to implement and embed standards and processes to achieve engineering excellence.
- Good knowledge of the regulatory framework and associated legislation.
