Structural Engineer – Bridges in Sharjah Emirate, United Arab Emirates is a Civil Engineering opportunity for an experienced site supervision professional who can support bridge and viaduct construction, structural design review, shop drawing assessment, contractor coordination, quality checks, and as‑built documentation. This role is ideal for a civil or structural engineer with strong infrastructure project experience, technical reporting ability, and practical knowledge of supervision procedures across major bridge works in the UAE or GCC.

Role Context:
The Structural Engineer – Bridges will assist the Resident Engineer in supervising structural construction activities for bridges, viaducts, utilities interfaces, and related infrastructure works. The position reviews technical submissions, monitors site progress, coordinates with contractors and design engineers, maintains accurate records, supports safety compliance, and ensures completed works meet project specifications, quality expectations, and authority handover requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report to the Resident Engineer and support supervision of bridge, viaduct, and associated structural works.
  • Coordinate daily site activities with engineers, inspectors, surveyors, contractors, and the construction supervision team.
  • Assist in reviewing shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, technical submissions, and correspondence related to bridge works.
  • Prepare technical responses and recommendations for Resident Engineer review.
  • Coordinate with design engineers to resolve structural design, construction, and interface issues.
  • Maintain daily diaries, inspector reports, site records, progress notes, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractor engineers on work schedules, construction sequencing, manpower planning, and resource deployment.
  • Direct, assist, and monitor inspectors and surveyors assigned to structural works.
  • Convene and chair special meetings with service authorities, contractors, subcontractors, and other relevant parties when required.
  • Ensure site records are accurate, complete, and available for project reporting and close‑out needs.
  • Oversee implementation of safety procedures and support achievement of project safety goals.
  • Participate actively in health and safety matters as required by the Resident Engineer and project safety representatives.
  • Prepare or assist with weekly and monthly progress reports for structural and bridge‑related activities.
  • Provide on‑site direction and assist the Resident Engineer in issuing site instructions for utilities works and associated items.
  • Check, measure, and record completed works within the assigned discipline.
  • Assist in tracking actual progress against planned or programmed works.
  • Review material submissions, laboratory reports, technical reports, acceptance sampling plans, testing results, and quality measures.
  • Verify that materials, workmanship, and construction activities comply with project specifications and approved standards.
  • Ensure correctness and completeness of as‑built drawings for structural works.
  • Maintain as‑built records and support handover of structural works to the relevant service authorities.
  • Assist contractors in obtaining final clearances related to structural works and associated infrastructure elements.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with the role as required by project leadership.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in construction supervision of infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience supervising bridges, viaducts, structural works, and major infrastructure construction activities.
  • Ability to review and justify material submissions, technical reports, laboratory results, testing records, and quality documentation.
  • Good understanding of acceptance sampling plans, construction quality measures, and project specification compliance.
