Role Overview

Mechanical Engineer – Infrastructure in Sharjah Emirate, United Arab Emirates is a Civil Engineering opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineering professional who can manage site supervision, design review, procurement coordination, project monitoring, testing, commissioning, and authority‑related technical requirements for large‑scale infrastructure works. The role is ideal for an engineer with strong experience in pumping stations, firefighting systems, chilled water networks, utilities, CAD tools, construction supervision, and multidisciplinary project coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, execute, and manage mechanical site supervision, design review, planning, project monitoring, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Advise the Project Management Team and client on technical matters related to procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical equipment.
  • Attend factory tests and site tests required for successful completion of project works and transfer of assets to relevant authorities.
  • Develop the scope of engineering work, project schedules, and budgets for assigned mechanical project elements.
  • Monitor engineering progress to ensure schedule and budget requirements are achieved.
  • Identify, document, and communicate changes in project scope that may affect technical delivery, cost, or schedule.
  • Assist in determining procurement scope, schedules, budgets, and project buy‑out requirements for assigned mechanical packages.
  • Monitor procurement progress and support timely delivery of mechanical equipment, materials, and subcontracted works.
  • Interface with procurement and subcontract teams to support the bid process and technical clarification requirements.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary technical personnel assigned to the project with other project engineers.
  • Support assignment and coordination of personnel from technical support groups within the company.
  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, directing, supervising, and controlling technical, fiscal, and administrative project functions.
  • Help determine technical skill requirements and staff hours needed for successful completion of assigned project works.
  • Ensure client criteria, project scope, contract obligations, and engineering requirements are met by all relevant disciplines.
  • Expedite the distribution and follow‑up of action items after meetings or discussions with the client and Project Manager.
  • Prepare technical reports, activity records, progress updates, and project documentation for client and management review.
  • Obtain, analyze, and circulate technical and contractual information to project disciplines.
  • Review mechanical designs, shop drawings, technical submissions, method statements, material approvals, and commissioning documentation when required.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, authorities, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams to resolve mechanical engineering issues.
  • Support safe construction delivery by applying project procedures, authority requirements, industry standards, and site safety expectations.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with the position as required by project leadership.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable institution.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in site supervision, planning, project monitoring, testing and commissioning for large‑scale infrastructure projects.
  • Prior construction supervision experience with pumping stations, firefighting systems, chilled water networks and utilities is required.
  • Fully conversant with authority requirements and processes related to DEWA, Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, and relevant UAE project approvals.
  • Proficiency in CAD and other engineering software packages typically used in infrastructure and construction projects.
