A Mechanical BIM Modeler is responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining accurate 3D Building Information Models (BIM) for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and other MEP services. The role involves coordinating with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure that mechanical designs are accurately represented, clash-free, and compliant with project requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed 3D BIM models for mechanical systems using Revit MEP and other BIM software.
- Prepare mechanical layouts, shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built models.
- Model HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems based on engineering designs and specifications.
- Perform clash detection and coordinate with architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines to resolve conflicts.
- Extract drawings, schedules, and material quantities from BIM models.
- Ensure compliance with project standards, BIM execution plans, and local regulations.
- Update models and drawings based on design revisions and site requirements.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and support project teams during construction and commissioning phases.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and model records throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM coordination tools.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems.
- Understanding of BIM standards, construction methodologies, and MEP coordination processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience:
- Typically 2–5 years of experience in BIM modeling for MEP or mechanical systems.
- Experience in residential, commercial, healthcare, hospitality, or industrial projects is preferred.
- Familiarity with GCC/UAE construction standards and BIM workflows is an advantage.
