Respiratory Therapist

Responsibilities

• Check patient lab order to make sure there are no errors and that they're appropriate and safe for the individual patient.

• Review orders issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy.

• Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

• Assist in teaching programs (departmental, medical, nursing, community).

• Ensure the maintenance and proper operation of equipment and supplies in the work areas.

• Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.

• Assist the Chief of Respiratory Services on special assignments.

• Assist the Chief of Respiratory Services with responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s mission, policy and any applicable laws. Follow insurance companies’ policies and procedures.

• Maintain established procedures concerning quality control, security of controlled substances and disposal of hazardous waste.

• Communicate appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team.

• Coordinate and direct patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed.

• Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations.

• Maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.

• Complete competency assessment based on personal performance.

• Assist with inventory of material and supply for the Respiratory Therapy department.

Bachelor Degree / Diploma in Respiratory Therapist.

Two years as a Respiratory Therapist or relevant clinical experience

• Ability to demonstrate an excellent knowledge in respiratory field.

• Excellent communication skills with good command in writing and speaking in English and knowledge in Arabic preferred.

• Follow specific instructions with high degree of accuracy.

• Excellent computer skills.

• Planning and organizational skills.

• Customer service focused.

• High degree of motivation and self- discipline.

• Organized and methodical good health and fitness.

• Work effectively both independently and as part of collaborative team.
