Position: Child Nutrition Technician (Child Protection & Care)

The Child Nutrition Technician Child Protection amp Care is responsible for supporting the provision of healthy safe and age-appropriate nutrition for children across government nurseries in accordance with relevant national and international standards The role supports the implementation of food safety requirements monitors the quality of food provided to children contributes to healthy nursery environments and promotes awareness among educational staff and families on the importance of nutrition in supporting children s immunity physical development and cognitive growth

Food Quality Nutrition amp Safety
  • Ensure high standards of food quality and food safety across nursery facilities in accordance with applicable national requirements
  • Support the development implementation and periodic review of policies and procedures relating to children s nutrition
  • Conduct regular on-site and virtual follow-up visits and prepare reports for the direct supervisor
  • Maintain relevant nutrition-related documentation and records
  • Monitor current research developments and emerging practices in early childhood nutrition and apply relevant findings to improve nutrition programmes
  • Conduct periodic surveys to assess the quality of nutrition-related services provided
  • Analyse feedback and results from employees families and the wider community to identify strengths and areas for improvement
  • Develop evidence-based recommendations supported by data and appropriate analysis
Supporting a Healthy Environment for Children
  • Support the inclusion of daily opportunities for movement and active play in coordination with relevant departments
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of safe and stimulating environments that encourage children s physical activity
  • Support the implementation of policies and initiatives relating to physical activity and children s wellbeing
  • Develop integrated nutrition plans for the distribution of healthy daily meals based on children s nutritional needs while taking individual differences and requirements into consideration
Nutrition Awareness Training amp Family Engagement
  • Train and support nursery staff on good practices relating to healthy nutrition and food safety
  • Develop and deliver nutrition awareness and training programmes for employees working in nurseries
  • Strengthen partnerships with parents and educational staff through workshops awareness campaigns and other initiatives promoting healthy eating habits
  • Encourage healthy nutritional practices for children both within nurseries and at home
  • Maintain appropriate communication channels to respond to nutrition-related enquiries and provide reliable information and guidance to employees and families
Nursery Operations amp Coordination
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to support integrated service delivery and consistent operational procedures
  • Support the regular updating of children s information and relevant databases
  • Assist in monitoring children or cases identified as potentially at risk and support appropriate preventive social or psychological interventions as required within the role s scope
  • Prepare and draft internal correspondence reports and documentation relating to the department
  • Maintain accurate and accessible information and records
  • Perform other related duties assigned by the department head in accordance with operational requirements
Qualifications
  • Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in one of the following or a closely related discipline:
    Nutrition, Food Science, Public Health, Relevant Medical or Biological Sciences, Early Childhood
  • Relevant training certificates or professional accreditation in areas such as the following are also desirable:
    Food Safety, Early Childhood Nutrition, First Aid, Management of children's health-related conditions
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in early childhood nutrition, public health, nursery environments, or educational settings
  • Experience implementing food safety standards and monitoring food quality within educational or similar environments
  • Experience developing and delivering training and awareness programmes for educational staff and parents
  • Experience analysing health and nutrition-related data and preparing reports to support informed decision-making.
