Position: Registered Nurse - NICU )

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and offer advice and emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Assess and identify patient needs, implement and monitor medical plans and treatments.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare specialists or allied health personnel in various settings.
  • Perform systematic patient assessment, re-assessment, and collect pertinent data concerning health or situation.
  • Interpret assessment information and data to determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues.
  • Define predicted and expected outcomes of patient planned care.
  • Create and evaluate patient care plans with the interprofessional team, collaborating with patients and bystanders.
  • Record vital signs; recognize, address, and elevate all abnormalities.
  • Maintain and update technical and clinical nursing skills; employ strategies to promote patient health and a safe environment.
  • Understand diagnostic tests and laboratory examinations.
  • Perform essential life support per regulatory requirements (e.g., Basic Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation).
  • Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment.
  • Administer medications and monitor for side effects and reactions.
  • Administer treatments (IV fluids or blood products) and monitor for reactions.
  • Provide wound‑care management.
  • Assist in medical procedures—both invasive and non‑invasive—as needed.
  • Facilitate safe admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Adhere to evidence‑based practices via the Elsevier platform.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in emergency procedures, equipment, and protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing programs and certifications to maintain professional growth and clinical competency.
  • Comply with unit scope of service; ensure care and safety of allocated neonates.
  • Handle critically ill, unconscious or ventilated neonates; accurately monitor vital signs, hemodynamics, oxygenation, and record condition.
  • Report abnormalities immediately to medical staff.
  • Resuscitate asphyxiated newborns.
  • Consult and cooperate with medical staff on mother‑baby care.
  • Provide emotional support to relatives during stressful situations and bereavement.
  • Perform duties rooted in professional ethics, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Ensure safe custody and administration of narcotics per hospital policy.
  • Educate families about growth, development milestones, feeding, disease, medication, pain management, and provide educational materials.
  • Promote and teach breastfeeding.
  • Perform competency in point‑of‑care testing and ensure quality requirements.
  • Operate unit equipment and ensure maintenance; report faults to Nurse Manager/Engineering.
  • Maintain unit stock verification and inventories.
  • Respond promptly to code situations such as Code Blue.
  • Maintain detailed documentation in EMR and physical flow charts.
  • Meet unit‑specific and general nursing competencies via Elsevier.
  • Hold an appropriate registered nurse license and manage professional re‑licensure.
  • Maintain a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
  • Be willing to work across departments and on call as needed.
Qualifications

Competency with mandatory and unit‑specific competencies supported by the Elsevier platform and evidence‑based practices.

Valid registered nurse license in the relevant regulatory health authority.

Proof of current professional re‑licensure management.

Completion of Basic Life Support and neonatal resuscitation (and other emergency protocols as required).

Willingness to work across departments and on call.
