Position Summary
The Senior Research Analyst (SRA) reports to the Vice Chancellor for Research (VCR) with accountability for producing high-quality research under the VCR’s research portfolio, thereby contributing to the academic and research mission of the University. The SRA is accountable for developing and undertaking original research in the areas defined by the VCR, assessing and developing new research opportunities, and managing selected elements of the VCR’s research portfolio on a day-to-day basis.
The SRA also may, from time to time, supervise students and other researchers in their research activities as requested by the VCR.
Research Leadership
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary research projects within the Vice Chancellor’s research portfolio, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic priorities.
- Oversee project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Design and implement advanced research studies, experiments, and data analyses addressing the technical, economic, and policy dimensions of industrial decarbonization and energy transition.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with industry partners, government agencies, and academic collaborators.
- Identify shared research priorities and develop joint research proposals.
- Prepare and submit high-quality grant proposals to secure research funding.
- Identify and pursue additional funding opportunities from external partners.
- Publish findings in leading peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
- Produce white papers, policy briefs, technical reports, and other outputs to support industry and government stakeholders, especially within the UAE context.
- Monitor technological advancements and emerging research trends in industrial decarbonization.
- Communicate key insights and opportunities to research teams.
- Contribute to the formulation of the University’s research strategy and identify new directions for growth and collaboration.
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline with a strong focus on energy systems.
- Exceptional candidates with an MSc and a proven research track record in relevant areas may also be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of research experience, with demonstrated success in securing external research funding.
- Proven record of publication in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong background in energy socio technical systems is highly desirable.
- In-depth technical understanding of industrial energy processes, technology value chains, and cross-cutting decarbonization technologies.
- Experience in public policy analysis or policy design related to energy and sustainability.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
- Experience leading or coordinating multicultural, interdisciplinary research teams.
- Adaptability and openness to evolving research priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Familiarity with research management and analysis tools such as Zotero/End Note, NVivo, and statistical software (SPSS, R, Stata, or Python).
