Sharon Public Schools is seeking a full‑time Instructional Assistant for the RISE program at Sharon High School.
Job DescriptionThe RISE Program is a specialized full‑inclusion program for multi‑grade students with Autism Spectrum and Related Disorders. The program supports students in their general‑education classes, providing academic, behavioral and social/emotional supports and interventions in the RISE classroom. Instructional Assistants provide academic and behavioral support and collect data.

QualificationsMinimum high school diploma; 2 years post‑high‑school education, Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Reports ToBuilding Principal/Assistant Principal, Director of Student Services.
Responsibilities- Practice ethical and professional standards and maintain strict standards of student and family confidentiality.
- Become familiar with student IEPs, including social/emotional, activities of daily living, and behavioral needs.
- Assist with specific student supports, individually or in small groups, in the implementation of educational and IEP goals and benchmarks.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with diverse learning styles.
- Reinforce the principles of social interaction programs by modeling positive behavior.
- Provide support services in all environments of the school setting under the guidance of the lead special education teacher and related service providers.
- Provide behavioral support including student‑specific accommodations and implementation of behavior support plans.
- Report any issues directly to the classroom teacher and/or the Special Education Teacher.
- Implement accommodations and modifications for the special education and general education teachers.
- Assist a substitute when a teacher is absent, as appropriate.
- Follow IEP accommodations as directed by a Special Education Teacher.
- Attend professional development as assigned.
- Assist/accompany students with leaving and entering the building (including transportation).
- Perform other duties as assigned by building administration.
- Modify curriculum and/or curriculum materials for inclusion opportunities with the Lead Teacher.
- Maintain a neat and orderly student notebook.
- Record accurate data on skills and behaviors.
- Work with students on generalization and maintenance of skills.
- Collect data on targeted skills as needed.
- Some programs include an additional hour per day for duties such as data collection.
On‑the‑job training and CPI (Crisis intervention and De‑Escalation) training is provided.
Pay is commensurate with experience based on the collective bargaining agreement.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:45 am – 3:00 pm.
