Provides interpretative analyses of complex regulatory guidance documents, regulations, and directives that impact Gorilla products. This position will provide regulatory support and expertise to business units regarding requirements for selling products and conducting business globally. This role focuses on compliance, preparation of existing and new chemical reviews as per country notification requirements, and ensures that the company’s products are in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Manages the preparation and timely submission of regulatory assessments and documents.
  • Facilitate the objectives and tasks of junior associates. Monitor, review and collaborate with staff to ensure growth opportunities for the company and team are fulfilled.
  • Responsible for performing safety assessments for a diverse portfolio of chemicals and ingredients used in products developed by Gorilla in support of global new chemical notifications and to meet global hazard communication requirements.
  • Evaluating complex regulatory requirements against the business activities and working with the functional leads.
  • Keeping leadership apprised of any changes in regulatory obligations or potential risks/liabilities.
  • Conduct a formula review, label review and TRAs for new product launches for North America.
  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate regulatory issues that will impact products and business strategies.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of emerging technical and regulatory issues within the geographical areas of responsibility.
  • Working with the Regulatory Group, manage areas of regulatory risk to core business activities in their region of responsibility and report finds to manager and team.
  • Coordinate and oversee human, environmental, physical chemical, and other testing including assessment of new data to meet regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Analyze and interpret test results in preparation for submission to regulatory agencies globally.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of product defense strategies using toxicology, chemistry and other scientific disciplines.
  • Document study findings, research and all applicable product registrations.
Qualifications

Required:

Education:

Seeking a highly qualified scientist with:

  • A bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, biochemistry, chemistry, biology, cosmetic science or a related biological discipline.
Experience and Background:
  • 10+ years' direct work experience in the product regulatory discipline.
  • Strong working knowledge of the regulations of both regional and national authorities governing product safety and registrations (CPSC, Health Canada, TSCA, REACH, etc.)
  • Familiarity and use of WERCS
  • Knowledge of product risk management.
  • Proficient in GHS compliant safety data sheets and labelling requirements.
Specific skills:
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Requires the ability to interact with individuals from a variety of functional backgrounds through effective communication of data & risks and influencing the outcome.
  • Requires the ability to work on multiple projects, to organize and prioritize within and between projects.
  • Requires flexibility, adaptability and ability to quickly assimilate and apply new information.
Technical

Qualifications:
  • Must be able to plan and conduct scientific testing. Must be able to draw conclusions from the results of clinical or technical studies and apply them to business decisions.
  • Must have an understanding of the target consumer and how the target consumer interprets communication.
  • Should have an in-depth understanding of the current regulatory environment and common practice in the US, Canada, and UK, among other global markets.
