This position is for a Controls Field Technician in Aftermarket and Service who is under minimal supervision and works independently. The role conducts and/or oversees equipment inspection and repair activities to ensure proper functioning, performs on‑site preventative maintenance, routine repair, calibration after installation, and solves highly complex problems. The technician serves as a resource on varied tasks and works closely with sales to define equipment needs and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities- Fieldwork with controllers and associated components.
- Highly qualified controls technicians preferred.
- Working knowledge of BAS systems;
Carrier i‑Vu knowledge is a plus. - Complete each assigned project focusing on customer satisfaction and specification compliance while maintaining budgetary guidelines.
- Partner with sales to set parameters for equipment needs and project timelines.
- Create submittals, read and understand project specifications and MEP drawing sets, controls and shop drawings.
- Document and track project completion with as‑built drawings and final program notation with all field changes.
- Assemble Operation & Maintenance Manuals for completed projects.
- Utilize company and customer standard programs for designing graphic function blocks.
- Test project programs to ensure specified sequences of operation are met and performed according to industry standards.
- Inspect HVAC systems, determine proper operating ranges for field devices, and complete functional system checkouts.
- Conduct graphics engineering functions including creating equipment and floor plan graphics per project documents.
- Submit material orders for project‑required materials to the purchasing group.
- Assist in developing functional checkpoint lists for commissioning and additional documentation requirements with the Commissioning Agent.
- Company vehicle provided.
- OT compensation eligible.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in Building Automation, HVAC, or technical field.
- Capable of climbing ladders or using lift equipment over 8 feet and lifting items up to 50 lbs.
- Valid and current Driver’s License and insurability by the company’s insurance.
- Bachelor’s degree, Associate degree, technical/business school certificate or diploma in HVAC, Controls, or related field.
- Knowledge of computers, setup procedures, and networking systems.
- Previous experience in AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
- Experience with Carrier i‑Vu, Tridium, or BACnet systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge in DDC control theory and HVAC/Control applications.
- Prior experience in HVAC and/or Building Automation.
- Expertise with TCP/IP networks including wireless technology.
- Experience managing multiple simultaneous challenges across disciplines.
