Summary
Set up, operate, and tend to equipment that heats, mixes, blends, and/or process ingredients in the manufacturing of food products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mix, measure, and weigh ingredients
  • Set up and operate equipment that mixes or blends ingredients used in the manufacturing of food products
  • Determine mixing sequences based on knowledge of temperature effects and the solubility of specific ingredients
  • Place products on carts to transfer them to the next stage of processing
  • Fill kettles, tanks or pots, with ingredients by opening valves, starting pumps or directly by hand using pipettes or cups
  • Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
  • Mark materials with identifying information
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed
  • Weigh or count items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards
  • Use computer to enter and maintain inventory records
  • Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications
  • Operate forklift and other conveyance equipment
  • Report food safety issues to the Production Manager or Operations Director

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read two and three syllable words. Recognize similarities and differences between words and a series of numbers. Ability to read formulas and to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills

Perform addition and subtraction of two-digit numbers to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Perform these operations using units of American money and metric weight, measurement, and volume.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding and to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of inventory software.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Must be able to obtain OSHA required Forklift Certification.
