Employment type
Full-time, exempt
Location
On-site (Not Remote)
Position Summary The Senior Accountant is the day-to-day owner of the accounting function for the family office and its related entities. The role carries a complete set of books from transaction through reconciliation to a clean monthly close, maintains distinct records across multiple entities, and produces the cash and reporting information leadership relies on to make decisions. It blends hands-on ownership of the general ledger with the judgment expected of a senior individual contributor — someone who can close the month independently, catch what doesn't tie, and keep several sets of books cleanly separated.
Reporting Structure Reports directly to:
Accounting Manager. Accounting Manager sets priorities, reviews the close, and approves reporting deliverables.
Works closely with (indirect): CFO and President on cross-entity matters, investment and financing activity, and information requests. These are collaborative working relationships rather than formal reporting lines — the role supports their needs while remaining accountable to Drew.
Core Responsibilities General ledger & month-end close
Own the full-cycle general ledger: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and intercompany activity.
Execute the monthly close on a defined calendar — reconcile all balance-sheet accounts, book required accruals, and deliver a reconciled trial balance.
Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for review.
Multi-entity bookkeeping
Maintain separate, clean sets of books for each entity in the structure, with correct intercompany elimination and no cross-contamination between entities.
Process and record intercompany transactions, allocations, and due-to/due-from balances so each entity stands on its own and consolidates correctly.
Cash & treasury
Build and maintain a rolling cash forecast across entities; track actual-versus-forecast and explain variances.
Manage cash operations — bank reconciliations, transfers, AP disbursements, and receipts — and flag liquidity needs ahead of time.
Reporting, controls & support
Prepare reporting packages and ad-hoc analysis for Drew and, as needed, for Ben and Paul.
Support year-end, tax preparation, and any audit or external accountant requests with clean work papers.
Maintain internal controls and documentation over cash, journal entries, and the separation of entity records.
Other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Key Performance Indicators Performance in this role is measured primarily on three deliverables:
Measurable What good looks like Month-end close
Close completed accurately and on the agreed calendar each month, with all balance-sheet accounts reconciled and reporting delivered on time.
Cash forecastingA reliable rolling cash forecast maintained across entities; forecast-to-actual variances are small, explained, and surfaced early enough to act on.
Segregating multiple sets of books
Each entity's books remain distinct, accurate, and audit-ready — intercompany ties out, and no entity's activity bleeds into another.
Qualifications Required Bachelor 's degree in Accounting or Finance.
4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle month-end close ownership.
Hands-on multi-entity accounting experience, including intercompany transactions.
Strong general-ledger and reconciliation skills and a working command of US GAAP.Advanced Excel; proficiency with a major accounting system (e.g. Quick Books, Net Suite).Preferred CPA (or active candidate).Family office, holding company, or investment-entity experience.
Exposure to cash forecasting/treasury and to consolidations across related entities.
Private Equity Experience.
Key Attributes High attention to detail and ownership — closes the month without being chased.
Discreet and trustworthy with sensitive financial information.
Organized enough to keep several entities straight at once and self-directed between review points.
Clear communicator who can give Accounting Manager, CFO, and President a straight answer on where things stand.
Position Requirements
10+ Years
work experience
