  • Foster alignment among cardiovascular physicians across multiple campuses (Shawnee Mission, South Overland Park, Lenexa City Center, Ottawa) to build a unified, integrated service line. Advance research, innovation, and education by expanding clinical trials, developing academic and industry partnerships, and strengthening national reputation.
  • Promote an exceptional patient experience, uphold Advent Health's mission and values, and lead initiatives in quality, accreditation, and process improvement.
  • Dedicate approximately 50% of time to leadership and administrative responsibilities while maintaining active clinical practice in a specialty area.

Hospital Description

Advent Health Shawnee Mission, located in Merriam, Kansas, is a 504-bed acute care hospital serving the Kansas City metro area, particularly Johnson County. Formerly Shawnee Mission Medical Center, it joined the Advent Health network in 2019, guided by a mission to provide faith-based, whole-person care that nurtures physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Established in 1962, the hospital has deep roots in the community, originating from a collaboration between local leaders, the Johnson County Medical Society, and the New Haven Seventh-day Adventist Church to meet the area's growing healthcare needs.

The hospital offers comprehensive services, including emergency care, cancer treatment, cardiology, neurology, maternity, bariatric surgery, and behavioral health, supported by over 700 physicians across 50 specialties and more than 3,300 employees. Its state-of-the-art Advent Health Cancer Institute, accredited by the Commission on Cancer, provides advanced treatments like MRI-guided radiation therapy, doubling patient capacity with a new $76.5 million facility opened in 2024.

The B.E. Smith Family Center supports children with developmental disabilities, and the Birth Center is renowned for delivering more babies annually than any other Kansas City hospital.
