Who We Are

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Driller Assistant to assist with geotechnical drilling operations, supporting soil exploration, well installations, and site investigations. This role involves operating, maintaining, and transporting drilling equipment while ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety protocols, and company procedures.

As a Driller Assistant, you will support the drill crew chief in performing drilling services, assembling and disassembling equipment, and ensuring that testing and drilling requirements are met. Responsibilities include operating various tools and equipment, maintaining drilling rigs, assisting with site cleanup, and preparing necessary reports and documentation. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and capable of working outdoors in varying environmental conditions.

This position requires flexibility in scheduling, with the possibility of overnight and weekend work, as well as travel to project sites—both locally and out of town, depending on business needs. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in geotechnical drilling, equipment operation, and fieldwork in a growing industry.

Important Note:

This is a physically demanding, labor‑intensive role. Driller Assistants regularly work in challenging weather conditions, and must be capable of lifting, carrying, and operating heavy equipment and materials throughout the day. The position involves extensive walking, standing, bending, and kneeling, sometimes for long periods of time. Candidates must be prepared for hands‑on, manual work that requires stamina, physical strength, and a high level of situational awareness.

Success in this role requires not only technical know‑how but also a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a physically demanding, high‑activity environment.

All applicants must be able to pass a preemployment background check and drug screening. Background checks are conducted in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and conduct testing of soil, concrete, and other construction materials to project specifications.
  • Ensure all testing equipment is properly functioning, maintained per company and manufacturer policies, and kept within its required calibration cycle.
  • Operate various tools and equipment, including pneumatic jackhammers for breaking concrete and water/steam pressure washers for cleaning drilling equipment, rods, augers, bits, casings, trucks, and trailers.
  • Perform manual labor tasks, including assembling and disassembling drilling equipment, rig setup, and site preparation.
  • Maintain and clean drilling rigs, trucks, and work areas to ensure equipment is in good working condition and meets safety standards.
  • Accurately complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy and submit required paperwork on time.
  • Properly maintain assigned company vehicles, scheduling oil changes, checking fluid levels, and ensuring regular upkeep of both the interior and exterior.
  • Report to job sites on time, follow all safety protocols, and accurately enter work time and project details daily.
  • Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations, ensuring compliance with OSHA and workplace safety guidelines.
  • Adapt to changing schedules and work hours based on project demands, including the possibility of overnight, weekend, or extended‑hour shifts as needed.
  • Travel as required to job sites within the designated region, which may include local, out‑of‑town, or extended stays for larger projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project goals and company initiatives.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental Sciences Field Services preferred.
  • Prior experience working on construction sites, geotechnical drilling, or environmental field services is a plus.
