Description For fun at work, just add water! Make a splash this summer working at the Shawnee Municipal pools! The Assistant Swim Coach position is responsible for helping instruct diving classes, coaching, supervising teams, leading organized workouts, and providing independent decision‑making under the Pool Manager’s supervision. Direct interaction with customers, the general public, and other department personnel or agencies is required.
Current pay begins at $17.00 per hour. Additional compensation is provided for employees who return after each season.
Position Responsibilities- Assists the Swim Coach during practice and competitions.
- Ensures the safety and well‑being of all participants.
- Attends appropriate training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled.
- Performs other related duties as requested by the Swim Coach, Pool Manager or Aquatics Director.
- Plans or assists with Aquatics special events.
- Attends all practices and competitions throughout the entire season.
- Performs other related duties as requested or assigned by the Pool Manager or Aquatics Director.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 16 years of age.
- Previous swimming and coaching experience is required.
- Certifications needed:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
- First Aid Certification
- AED Certification
Or any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities identified in this job description.
Work ScheduleMust be able to attend all scheduled swim/dive events, practices, and meetings throughout the season.
