Dentist DDS​/DMD

• Diagnose and treat dental diseases and conditions.
• Perform procedures such as dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals, and the placement of crowns, bridges, and dental implants.
• Provide preventive care, educate patients about proper oral hygiene, and guidance on maintaining a healthy diet to promote oral health.

• Strong foundation in science, excellent manual dexterity, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to diagnose and treat a range of dental conditions and to use a variety of tools and techniques.

• Education:
  
  Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or CODA-accredited.
• After graduation, dentists must pass national and state licensure examinations and maintain licensure through ongoing continuing education.
• Some dentists may specialize in orthodontics, periodontics, or oral and maxillofacial surgery, which require additional training and certification.

Before becoming a dentist, individuals may gain experience in the dental field through roles such as Dental Assistant, Dental Hygienist, or Dental Laboratory Technician, which provide valuable insights into daily operations and hands-on patient care. These roles serve as stepping stones for pursuing a career in dentistry.
