Job Purpose and Summary

We help people navigate the health care system – and their personal health care – by improving access, lowering costs and being a trusted partner for every meaningful moment of health. Within our Retail locations, this role supports the pharmacy teams to deliver operational and service excellence. Technicians often serve as the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately while providing caring service that exceeds expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: create heartfelt moments at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services; solve or escalate patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities, as permitted by law, as directed by leadership: accurately put away medication deliveries, complete cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting bin inventories, etc.
  • Support a high–performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek feedback and expand clinical and technical knowledge needed to better assist patients.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; volunteer to travel to stores in the market to work shifts as required.
  • Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles. Comply with CVS policies to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping, and to protect patient privacy and security.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntarily staffing off‑site clinics) where allowed by law and supported by required training and certification.

Where permissible, the Pharmacy Technician may also support immunizations, which includes the following responsibilities:

  • Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
  • Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions; report adverse reaction events per public health requirements.
  • Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing practice of pharmacy, which includes but is not limited to age, education, and licensure/certification.
    • If the state board does not address or mandate a minimum age requirement, must be at least 16 years of age.
    • If the state board does not address or mandate a minimum educational requirement, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in a high school or high school equivalency program.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
