• Receive and pay out money and handle negotiable instruments such as checks.
• Provide accurate, efficient, friendly service to members via teller functions: processing deposits, withdrawals, payments, cashing checks, and related activities.
• Arrange cash and coin according to denomination in cash boxes and coin dispensers.
• Balance currency, coin, and checks in cash drawers at shift end and calculate daily transactions using computers, calculators, or adding machines.
• Carry out special services for customers, e.g., ordering bank cards and checks.
• Cash checks and pay out money after verifying signatures, written and numerical amounts, and account sufficient funds.
• Compose, type, and mail customer statements and correspondence regarding discrepancies or unpaid items.
• Compute financial fees, interest, and service charges.
Count currency, coins, and checks by hand or using a currency‑counting machine for deposits or shipment to branch banks or the Federal Reserve Bank.
• Enter customers' transactions into computers to record transactions and issue computer‑generated receipts.
• Examine checks for endorsements to verify dates, bank names, identification, and legality of documents.
• Explain, promote, or sell products or services such as travelers' checks, savings bonds, money orders, and cashier’s checks using computerized information about customers to tailor recommendations.
• Identify transaction mistakes when debits and credits do not balance.
• Obtain and process information required for services such as opening accounts, savings plans, and purchasing bonds.
• Perform clerical tasks such as typing, filing, and microfilm photography.
• Prepare and verify cashier’s checks.
• Process term deposits, retirement savings plan contributions, automated teller transactions, night deposits, and mail deposits.
• Receive and count daily inventories of cash, drafts, and travelers' checks.
• Receive checks and cash for deposit, verify amounts, and check accuracy of deposit slips.
• Receive mortgage, loan, or public utility bill payments, verifying payment dates and amounts due.
• Resolve problems or discrepancies concerning customers' accounts.
• Sort and file deposit slips and checks.
• Answer telephones and assist customers with questions.
• Count, verify, and post armored car deposits.

• Prior cash handling experience preferred.
