LiDAR Technician (Architecture)

GPI Geospatial is seeking a LiDAR Technician to work from our Sheboygan, WI office for a role that involves data compilation from LiDAR in a 3D point cloud environment, terrestrial remote sensing field data collection, instrument testing, calibration support, and LiDAR and imagery processing. The ideal candidate is a LiDAR Technician or other mapping technician with a minimum of 1 year of experience.

The successful candidate will possess good verbal communication skills, have a positive outlook, and a proven track record in a project-based, schedule-driven environment.

• Primary: prepare existing conditions surveys using TopoDOT and Micro Station software. Includes 3D feature extraction from mobile LiDAR-generated point clouds, quality control checks, and quality assurance of one's own data set for accuracy, surface/contour generation, crossing chains, feature delineation, project boundary, and mapping scale.
• Secondary: assist with mobile LiDAR data collection mission, including operating the mobile LiDAR system as part of a crew, maintaining the vehicle and scanning equipment, conducting system testing, troubleshooting, and scanner calibrations.
• Other responsibilities:
  
  perform LiDAR point cloud registration; assist with acquisition of other remote sensing platforms, such as static scanners, Nav Vis system, and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

• 1-2 years of experience using scanning or mapping software.
• A.S. Degree or certificate in a related course of study or equivalent work experience.
• TopoDOT and Microstation experience is strongly preferred.
• ArcGIS, Autodesk Civil 3D, Leica Cyclone, or other 3D modeling software experience is favorable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite programs is favorable.
