Job SummaryAt Prevea Health, the Medical Laboratory Technician and Medical Laboratory Scientist perform routine laboratory tests and procedures. These positions play a crucial role in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data that assist providers in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
What you will do- Collect, process, and correctly label specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue for analysis.
- Perform routine laboratory tests in hematology, immunology, urinalysis, and chemistry, ensuring accurate test results by following quality control protocols.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning, troubleshoot technical issues, and perform routine maintenance.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Associate’s program or a Medical Laboratory Science Bachelor’s program (Required).
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Knowledge of current medical terminology and laboratory equipment care.
- Ability to follow written protocols and utilize specific laboratory training.
- Interpret and analyze numerical data in relation to patient information and testing methodology.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors to foster work and patient/customer relationships.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.
- Effective problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy levels.
- Proficiency in the use of EMR systems, computer, phone, and office equipment.
- Must possess either the qualifications of a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
- Medical Laboratory Technician:
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technician (AMT) within 1 year (Required). - Medical Laboratory Scientist:
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technician (AMT) within 1 year (Required).
