Job Summary
This position is responsible for pre‑visit planning, standard rooming responsibilities, assisting with procedures, discharge instructions, and carrying out both administrative and clinical tasks as directed by a medical provider. The role plays a key part in helping patients feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the visit. you will do
- Room patients, perform and document vital signs and patient backgrounds.
- Coordinate provider schedules and appointments, enter orders and prepare patient charts.
- Instruct patients and families as directed within scope of licensure or certification.
- Prepare patients and assist medical providers with in‑office procedures and administer medications/immunizations.
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment to meet infection control standards and ensure adequate medical supplies.
- Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or Practical Nursing program. (Required)
- Minimum of 160 hours of direct patient care experience as an MA/LPN through professional work experience or student clinical rotations. (Required)
- Current clinical experience as a Medical Assistant – Preferred.
- Current clinical experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse – Preferred.
- Knowledge of principles and skills for practical nursing or medical assisting to provide patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments for patient care.
- Understanding of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build patient relationships.
- Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy.
- Ability to prioritize work and handle changing demands.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Effective problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with EMR systems, computer, phone, and office equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Other licenses that supersede the CMA/RMA license may allow practice at the highest level with written approval from Quality Resources – approval must be kept on file and licensure maintained.
- Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant in WI. (Required on hire)
- Valid Practical Nursing license in WI. (Required on hire)
- CPS/BLS Certification (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) from an approved program or Prevea‑sponsored program. (Required on hire)
- Occasional sitting, frequent standing and walking, occasional driving, occasional climbing stairs/ladders, frequent bending of neck and waist, occasional squatting, occasional twisting, frequent lifting 0‑10 lb, occasional lifting 11‑25 lb, rare lifting over 25 lb, rare pushing/pulling 11‑50 lb, frequent reaching above and below shoulder level, constant grasping and fine manipulation, occasional gross manipulation.
- Rare extreme cold, rare extreme heat, rare humidity, rare wet conditions, occasional noise, occasional hazards.
- 5 % travel.
- Constant ability to hear whispers from less than 3 ft, constant ability to hear whispers 3‑8 ft.
- Color discrimination – constant.
- Near vision – correctable to Jaeger 2 or 20/40 binocular – constant.
- Distance vision – correctable to Snellen 20/40 binocular – constant.
