Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors to verify occupancy. The purpose of the property inspection is to: verify property occupancy and report on its general condition using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only, with about 10% requiring interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

• Complete inspections within 4 days after assignment.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in an app.
• Drive extended periods while making numerous stops in the assigned territory.
• Most inspections take 5-6 minutes.

• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay for your own gas)

• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume, earning the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates.

There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month-to-month, and you can earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
