We're recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to join a well-established engineering business specialising in heavy-duty driveline systems and power transmission equipment. This is a hands-on workshop role suited to candidates from heavy engineering backgrounds such as HGV, rail, marine, plant, or industrial machinery.

If you have solid experience working on gearboxes, transmissions, axles, heavy plant, or similar mechanical systems, this role offers long-term stability, technical variety, and genuine development opportunities.

The Role

Strip, inspect, repair and overhaul heavy-duty transmissions, torque converters, axles and associated components
Carry out fault-finding, servicing and mechanical rebuilds to high engineering standards
Interpret technical drawings and manufacturer documentation
Work predominantly in a workshop environment, with occasional site visits if required
Maintain high standards of health & safety and workshop housekeeping

What We're Looking For

Proven hands-on mechanical engineering experience within heavy industry
Background in HGV, rail, marine, plant, industrial machinery, or heavy equipment environments
Strong experience with gearboxes, transmissions or rotating machinery
Confident fault-finding and problem-solving ability
Formal mechanical engineering qualification (advantageous but not essential with relevant experience)
Basic hydraulic or electrical knowledge beneficial

This role would particularly suit candidates from the marine sector or those used to working on heavy driveline systems rather than light automotive vehicles.
