Job Introduction
As a Band 7 Senior Sister, you will play a key leadership role within our Community Nursing Service, leading a dedicated team to deliver outstanding care to patients in their own homes and local communities.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced community nursing leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while developing and supporting others to achieve their full potential. You will be responsible for leading a team of nurses, overseeing a complex community caseload and ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively and in line with best practice.
You will work closely with colleagues across health and social care, helping to shape and develop services that improve outcomes for patients while supporting the wider strategic objectives of the organisation. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines clinical expertise, operational leadership and service improvement.

As a Senior Sister, you will provide leadership and management for a Community Nursing Team, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and evidence-based care to patients with a wide range of complex health needs.
You will be responsible for managing and overseeing the community nursing caseload, ensuring patients receive high-quality care that promotes independence, prevents unnecessary hospital admissions and enhances quality of life. You will support the development of clinical practice, ensuring your team is equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence required to deliver excellent care.
Alongside your clinical leadership responsibilities, you will play a key role in workforce development, performance management, service improvement and quality assurance. You will use data, patient feedback and clinical outcomes to drive continuous improvement while maintaining a positive and supportive team culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing a Community Nursing Team
- Overseeing the delivery of high-quality clinical care across a complex community caseload
- Supporting staff development through supervision, mentorship, appraisal and training
- Ensuring safe staffing, workload allocation and effective resource management
- Supporting patients with complex care needs, long-term conditions and end of life care
- Promoting evidence-based practice and clinical excellence across the service
- Managing performance, attendance and professional development within the team
- Leading on service improvement initiatives, audits and quality assurance activities
- Working collaboratively with GPs, community teams, acute services and partner organisations
- Supporting the management of incidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- Degree level qualification or evidence of working towards degree level study
