Pay and Hours
Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £14.18 an hour; this increases to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with the option to work a minimum of 12 hours for those who prefer flexibility.
About the RoleCustomers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco on the road, you deliver orders across the country. This role involves driving, customer interaction, and supporting the team will be responsible for ensuring clean vans, proper delivery, and excellent customer service.
Responsibilities- Ensure the van and trays used are clean, tidy and organized.
- Leave the back yard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish, picking up litter as seen.
- Ensure trays are washed as part of the tray wash process.
- Load the van as required, checking for roadworthiness.
- Communicate with customers about changes to orders, including short code items and substitutions, offering refunds for dissatisfaction.
- Take care of products and deliveries as if they were your own.
- Explain to customers that they will not be charged for substitutions.
- Deliver within the customer time slot.
- Call the customer before arriving at their property if early.
- Call the store or centre if running 30 or more minutes late.
- Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit.
- Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues, taking time to understand the customer and say “Thank you.”
- Act quickly to respond to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
- Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations, integrating home and work to achieve a balance that is right for you.
- Share ideas with the manager and other colleagues on how to improve the store for customers.
- Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than three penalty points.
- Have a minimum of a valid 16 guaranteed hours commitment, with flexibility for 12‑hour weeks.
