Green Bridge Community Housing is looking for a detail focused and organised Rent Revenue & Accounts Officer to join our Finance Team.
This role is responsible for managing rent accounts, monitoring rental income and reconciling payment data to ensure accurate financial records. You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, residents and external partners to help maintain effective income collection while providing a supportive and person centred approach.
Key Responsibilities Reconciliation and Financial Control- Monitor resident accounts to ensure rent payments are received.
- Identify non payment, monitor rent arrears and take appropriate action.
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Agree realistic repayment arrangements and monitor compliance.
- Manage persistent arrears where appropriate.
- Contact residents regarding outstanding balances by telephone, email and letter.
- Carry out audits to ensure compliance with financial procedures and internal controls.
- Verify payments for new residents.
- Update and reconcile financial transaction spreadsheets.
- Build positive professional relationships with residents.
- Work closely with Housing Officers and Supported Accommodation Officers to resolve rent issues and ensure payments are made correctly.
- Liaise with local authorities, Housing Associations, commissioners and benefit teams regarding payment issues.
- Support residents in understanding their rent accounts and payment responsibilities.
- Maximise rental income while maintaining a supportive and person centred approach.
- Ensure direct debits, standing orders and other payment methods are operating effectively.
- Process authorised rent refunds.
- Reconcile rental income against rent accounts in a timely manner.
Produce regular reports for the Head of Finance and Directors, including:
- Rent arrears and collection rates.
- Aged debt analysis.
- Housing Benefit and Universal Credit income.
- Income forecasts.
- Payment reconciliations.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years' experience in a finance, transactional accounts or rent accounting environment.
- Basic understanding of double entry bookkeeping and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables and data manipulation.
- Educated to A Level standard (including Maths) or an equivalent Level 3 business or finance qualification.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work to weekly and monthly deadlines.
- Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
- Empathy and professionalism when supporting vulnerable people.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, as occasional travel may be required.
- Experience working within UK social housing, including a Housing Association or Local Authority.
- Knowledge of Universal Credit, Housing Benefit and the Social Housing Rent Standard.
- Studying towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent professional qualification.
