This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful, well-established business and take ownership of the finance function during an exciting period of growth and change.

DGP is Scotland's leading independent specialist in forklift sales and long-term hire, with a strong reputation built over more than 50 years. The business has recently expanded through acquisition and is investing in new systems and processes to support future growth. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you'll oversee the day-to-day finance function across two sites, manage a small finance team, and play a key role in improving processes and supporting business decisions.

This is a hands-on role with genuine scope to develop into a more senior position over time. Responsibilities:
Managing the day-to-day accounts function across both businesses Leading and developing a team of five finance staff Preparing monthly management accounts Managing payroll submissions through an external provider Completing VAT returns and other compliance requirements Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning Overseeing accounts payable, receivable and credit control Assisting with year-end and audit activity Supporting the integration of a recently acquired business Playing a key role in finance system and process improvements Working closely with the Finance Director to support the continued growth of the business Previous

Experience:

We're open to candidates who are fully qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience, provided you have strong accounting skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced SME environment. You'll ideally have:
Experience preparing management accounts and overseeing finance operations, including a small team Strong reconciliation, reporting and month-end skills Good systems knowledge, including Excel and accounting software

Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management A practical and hands-on approach Strong communication skills and the confidence to work across the business An interest in improving processes and supporting change initiatives

Experience with in manufacturing, construction, plant hire, equipment hire, logistics or the motor trade would be particularly advantageous.
