Role Purpose

The role of the Examinations Officer is to manage the effective and efficient administration of external examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations and/or awarding body rules for exam administration in a consistent and secure fashion, thereby helping to maintain the integrity of the assessment process.

Main Responsibilities
  • Managing the whole exam series to include registrations, entries, amendments, results and achievement processes. Maintaining accurate data and meeting awarding body deadlines. Liaising with internal stakeholders to validate data accuracy.
  • To act on behalf of, and be the main point of contact for, the centre in matters relating to the general administration of awarding body examinations and assessments.
  • Possess a high level of knowledge in exam related rules and regulations via relevant support available for external stakeholders (Awarding organisations/JCQ/The Exams Office, etc).
  • Contribute to the effective planning and oversee the examination process for all learners, throughout the whole academic year. Including seating and timetabling.
  • Ensuring the secure receipt, storage and handling of examination materials and candidate information. Complying with internal and external data protection requirements.
  • Recognise changes taking place in examinations via JCQ/Awarding bodies and implement these with the Sheffield College examination procedures and processes.
  • Play a key role in implementing access arrangements for eligible candidates, supporting the ALS and Inclusion team.
  • Be an active support to the Exam Manager in executing and engaging with the JCQ Centre Inspection Service, an awarding body or a regulatory authority when subject to an inspection, investigation or unannounced visit.
  • Aid the Exams Manager in creation, reviewing and updating of exam-related policies as required by the regulations, and accurately reflecting working practices in the centre.
  • Building effective relationships with curriculum teams, support services and awarding organisations to deliver a high-quality examinations service.
