We are currently recruiting for an HR & Payroll Administrator to join a busy People Services Team at Sheffield Hallam University. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who enjoys working in a customer-focused environment and has an interest in HR, payroll and people services.
The successful candidate will provide proactive and efficient administrative support across a range of HR, organisational development and payroll processes, ensuring a professional, accurate and responsive service to staff and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day administrative support across HR, HROD and payroll processes.
- Monitor team inboxes, respond to enquiries and elevate more complex queries where appropriate.
- Support recruitment administration, including requesting references, pre-employment checks and confirming start dates.
- Produce contracts of employment and process staff leavers and resignations.
- Maintain accurate employee and leaver records and files.
- Support payroll processing for casual workers, visiting lecturers and external examiners, including fees and expenses.
- Complete and support UKVI and DBS checks.
- Produce employment references and process voluntary deductions and staff allowances.
- Provide administrative support for development programmes, training, meetings and events.
- Maintain databases and administrative systems, producing routine reports and statistical information when required.
- Support audits, system testing and process improvements.
- Assist with meetings and committees, including preparing papers, agendas and taking notes/minutes.
- Maintain online resources and information, ensuring content is accurate and up to date.
- Provide a high level of customer service while working within relevant legislation, policies, procedures and service level agreements.
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and customer-focused, with strong administrative skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
You will ideally have:- Previous experience working in an administrative role.
- Experience supporting projects, training, meetings or events.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to resolve queries or elevate them appropriately.
- Experience working within policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge or experience of HR and/or payroll processes.
- Good attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
- Experience using CRM systems, databases and Microsoft Office applications.
- The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders while managing competing priorities.
