South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Programme Support Officer to join our Programme Delivery Team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting programme delivery through the provision of high-quality administrative, operational and coordination support.

As a Programme Support Officer, you will provide comprehensive support to the wider Programme Delivery Team, helping to ensure the smooth and effective running of programmes and projects across the organisation. You will undertake a variety of administrative and coordination activities, including organising meetings, managing diaries, preparing reports and correspondence, and producing accurate and concise meeting minutes within agreed timescales.

About the role

As a Programme Support Officer, you will support the delivery of programmes and projects by providing high-quality administrative and operational support across a range of activities.

You will help coordinate meetings and governance processes, including supporting boards and panels, managing diaries, preparing documentation and ensuring actions and decisions are accurately recorded and followed up. You will also support the production of reports, maintain programme documentation and contribute to the management of funding and performance information.

Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will play an important role in maintaining effective systems, processes and controls that support programme governance and reporting. You will handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and information governance requirements.

The role requires a collaborative approach, working with internal teams, senior leaders and external partners to support effective programme delivery and help ensure organisational priorities are achieved.

About you

The successful candidate will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and confident working to tight deadlines. You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be capable of building effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the Mayoral Combined Authority.

  • Experience of working in an administrative or business support role.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • The ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality documentation.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to work independently whilst also contributing effectively as part of a team.

You will also play an important role in monitoring actions, identifying and escalating issues, and supporting effective programme governance and reporting. Above all, you will be someone who enjoys helping others succeed, takes pride in delivering a high-quality service, and is motivated by contributing to programmes that deliver positive outcomes for South Yorkshire's communities.
