Job Purpose

As a Director of Product Management, you will play a pivotal role in developing and shaping the future of our IP Tech Transfer services and software products. IP Tech Transfer is a new product line for RWS covering the Patent Attorney collaboration with inventors, through to the drafting of patent applications and the subsequent prosecution responses to PTOs. You will be responsible for defining the product strategy, prioritising features, and overseeing the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch.

This role requires a strong blend of technical acumen, customer focus, and strategic thinking. Familiarity with the IP Market or experience in large corporate R&D departments would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities Job Overview
  • Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy for IP Tech Transfer services and software products, aligning with company goals and market trends.
    • Develop inventor elicitation and patent drafting software.
  • Own customer engagement and market research to identify customer needs, competitive landscape, and opportunities for product differentiation.
    • Seek out opportunities for customer co‑creation, develop the customer relationships and create opportunities for future sales.
    • Gather and analyze customer feedback and incorporate it into the product development process.
    • Anticipate customer needs, define new categories of solutions.
  • Drive thought leadership on product and experience opportunities.
    • Supports internal and external conferences as a “thought leader” in the IP Research services and software products.
    • Lead on idea management for the product area leveraging cross‑functional resources to quickly prototype and learn.
    • Create and maintain a detailed product roadmap, outlining key milestones and release schedules.
    • Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, design, and marketing, to gather and prioritise product requirements.
    • Lead the product development process, ensuring that features and functionality are delivered on time and within budget.
    • Collaborate with UX/UI teams to create intuitive and user‑friendly interfaces that enhance the overall customer experience.
    • Utilise data‑driven insights to make informed product decisions, measure product performance, and optimise user engagement.
    • Plan and execute successful product launches, including marketing campaigns, sales enablement, and customer support strategies.
    • Collaborate with sales and marketing to ensure appropriate GTM, messaging and support is provided.
    • Support the development of market facing materials and internal training collateral.
    • Support and input into the commercial pricing strategy for the IP Tech Transfer services and software products.
    • Actively participate in the Product Management community through knowledge sharing and collateral development.
    • Partner with technology teams on design, implementation, delivery, and adoption of the IP Tech Transfer services and software products.
    • Own release notes and work with IP Operations, Sales & Marketing to update IP Tech Transfer customers of product enhancements.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field;
    Additional IP Legal or product management‑related qualifications preferred.
