We’re looking for a dynamic Pricing & Revenue Manager to help shape the future of public transport in South Yorkshire.

Applications must be accompanied by a cover letter to detail how you meet the criteria as detailed within the role profile. Please note, all applications should be made directly via our careets portal.

About the role

In this key role, you’ll develop smart, customer‑focused fare strategies that make travel more accessible, fair, and financially sustainable. You’ll balance policy goals — like boosting public transport use and supporting social and environmental priorities — with the need to protect and grow revenue.

As a major contributor to South Yorkshire’s Bus Franchising programme, you’ll ensure fares are deployed accurately across all ticketing channels and use data‑driven insights to maximise revenue and improve the passenger experience.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Develop and manage fare structures across all transport modes and sales channels, including discount schemes and concessionary offers.
  • Lead revenue strategy and forecasting using demand modelling, yield management, and trend analysis to optimise farebox income.
  • Monitor market trends and performance to support dynamic pricing and promotional activity.
  • Ensure regulatory and contractual compliance across franchised and permitted services.
  • Manage retail and ticketing channels, including smart cards, digital platforms, and retail outlets to enhance customer experience.
  • Oversee fare configuration and system integration, ensuring accurate deployment across all ticketing systems.
  • Drive revenue protection initiatives through data insights and collaborative enforcement strategies.
  • Engage stakeholders and communities to ensure fare policies reflect public needs and values.
  • Align fare policy with strategic planning, supporting wider transport, equity, and environmental goals.
  • Advise on commercial and procurement matters related to operators and ticketing systems.
About you

We’re looking for a commercially minded, analytically strong leader who can turn data into decisions and decisions into impact. You’ll bring proven experience in pricing, revenue management, or fare strategy - ideally in a regulated or franchised transport setting - and you’ll know how to balance commercial rigour with public value.

You’ll be confident operating in a complex stakeholder environment, shaping policy into practical, customer‑focused fare and ticketing solutions that drive growth and support long‑term sustainability.

Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial aspects of transport systems, including pricing, revenue optimisation, and market dynamics.
  • Proven experience in fare strategy, transport pricing, or revenue management, ideally within a franchised or regulated transport system.
  • Strong track record in financial modelling, revenue forecasting, and elasticity analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of fare structures, passenger behaviour, and demand drivers.
  • Advanced data interpretation and analytical capabilities, with experience in using demand models and performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex information to non‑specialist audiences.
  • Familiarity with passenger behaviour analytics and CRM integration to inform fare decisions.
  • Sound understanding of public transport operations, funding mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks.
Desirable
  • Familiarity with smart ticketing platforms, retail systems, and digital sales channels.
  • Background in delivering services within a consumer-focused transport environment.
