We are seeking an ambitious Transport Resilience Officer to join our Emergency Preparedness and Corporate Security team.

This is an officer role working on critical work streams across business continuity, resilience and emergency planning within the transport function of the organisation. The role will play a vital part in building a more resilient network that is better prepared to tackle disruptions and emergencies in line with current and future risks.

NPPV3 vetting is required for this role.

About the role

You will contribute to multiple work streams shaping how SYMCA’s transport function will respond to disruptions and emergencies whether that be internally through our business continuity programme or externally through engagement with Local Resilience Forum. As part of the team you will work to tackle a number of challenges across a broad range of transport modes.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders you will create risk assessments, write emergency plans, train staff on their roles and responsibilities and validate these plans have been successfully created and understood. Engagement with a wide number of partners will be essential to understand their operating environment and how they can be best prepared to tackle emerging risks that may occur.

About

you

You have experience in working in the transport industry with experience of emergency planning, business continuity, risk management, exercising or operating within a Local Resilience Forum.

You are confident working across multiple interdisciplinary teams to deliver outcomes based in best‑practice adapted to the needs and requirements of the organisation.

You are able to work across multiple concurrent projects to deliver successful outputs in line with management and organisational priorities.

You are keen to work within multiple exciting projects and business areas within SYMCA, such as Bus Franchising to ensure that emergency planning and business continuity best practice is embedded across the organisation.

This role may be required to become part of an on‑call roster in the future. This will only occur based on discussions once appointed.
