Programme Manager - Control Operations
Location: Sheffield (3 days onsite mandatory)
Rate: £440-£451 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract: Initial 6 Months (Strong Extension Potential)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Programme Manager to join a leading global financial services organisation. This role sits within the Control Operations function and is responsible for driving delivery, governance, and operational excellence across multiple control initiatives.
The RoleAs the Programme Manager, you will take ownership of cross-control programmes, ensuring delivery remains on track while providing clear governance, leadership reporting, and proactive risk management. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across Controls, Risk, Audit, Operations and Technology to ensure initiatives are delivered successfully with a "no surprises" approach.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the delivery and governance of cross-control initiatives from planning through to completion.
- Manage programme intake, scope definition, planning, deliverables, dependencies and governance.
- Maintain RAID logs, programme trackers and reporting packs.
- Coordinate governance meetings and ensure actions are tracked through to completion.
- Proactively identify risks and consolidate issues early with clear recommendations.
- Coordinate BAU activities across the Control Operations team.
- Support resource planning, capacity management and budget tracking.
- Produce leadership-ready reports, dashboards and decision packs.
- Build strong relationships across Controls, Risk, Audit, Operations and Technology.
- Improve governance processes, reporting standards and operational efficiencies.
- Act as an extension of the Leadership Team when required, providing operational support and programme oversight.
- Coach and support junior team members while promoting knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration
- Proven experience delivering complex Programme or Project Management within a regulated financial services, operations or controls environment.
- Strong programme governance experience including RAID management, reporting and action tracking.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Experience coordinating multiple work streams across large organisations.
- Strong planning, resource management and budget tracking experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience producing executive-level reporting.
- Ability to manage competing priorities within fast-paced environments.
