Location:

(with work across various Sheffield City Council buildings) Pay Rate: £17.18 per hour PAYE
Contract:
Full Time, 37 hours per week Duration: 5 - 6 Months Initially
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 16:00pm (occasional cover until 17:30pm) Sheffield City Council is seeking two experienced and proactive Facilities Officers to join its Facilities Management Team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring council buildings remain safe, compliant, clean, and welcoming environments for staff, visitors, and service users. Based from the Moorfoot Building in Sheffield City Centre, you will support the delivery of high-quality facilities management services across a diverse property portfolio, helping to maintain the smooth day-to-day operation of essential public service buildings.
Day-day-day of the role As a Facilities Officer, you will be responsible for the operational delivery of facilities management services across multiple sites. You will work closely with colleagues, contractors, customers, and stakeholders to ensure buildings operate efficiently and meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. This is a varied and hands-on role that combines facilities management, contractor supervision, health and safety compliance, customer service, and team leadership responsibilities.
Monitor and maintain high standards of building cleanliness, safety, security, and presentation. Supervise facilities staff and coordinate service delivery across multiple sites. Support and oversee contracted services including cleaning, security, waste management, and grounds maintenance. Conduct building inspections and report maintenance defects and repairs. Assist with health and safety compliance, audits, risk assessments, and statutory checks. Respond to facilities-related enquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
Support office moves, events, and building layout changes. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and performance information. Work closely with contractors and suppliers to ensure service standards are achieved. Assist with emergency planning and business continuity arrangements. Contribute to the development of facilities management policies, procedures, and best practice. Deputise for Facilities Managers when required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Experience working within Facilities Management, Building Services, Property Management, or a similar operational environment. Previous experience supervising staff or coordinating service delivery. Strong customer service and communication skills. The ability to build effective working relationships with customers, colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders. Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines. A practical and solution-focused approach to problem solving.
Experience using Microsoft Office and electronic management systems. Knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements. The ability to work independently and use initiative. A flexible approach to supporting service needs across multiple locations. Benefits:
