Help us deliver digital projects that make a difference
We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic Project Support Officer to join our Digital Delivery team within Digital and Technology Services.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complex work, keeping information accurate and helping project teams stay organised. You could already be working in project support, a programme office or a business support role and be ready to take the next step in your career.
You do not need to be a technical specialist. What matters most is that you are organised, dependable, comfortable working with project information and able to build positive relationships with a wide range of people.
About the roleYou will support Project Managers and delivery teams across a varied portfolio of digital and technology projects. You will help coordinate activities, keep project records up to date, track actions and risks, support governance meetings and produce clear reports for managers and decision-makers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Triaging new project requests into the department.
- Maintaining project plans, RAID logs, action logs and decision records.
- Tracking milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues.
- Organising meetings, workshops and governance boards.
- Preparing agendas and papers, taking accurate minutes and following up actions.
- Supporting regular project and portfolio reporting.
- Helping teams follow agreed project management and governance processes.
- Supporting change control, financial tracking, resource planning and procurement administration.
- Maintaining accurate and secure project records.
- Identifying opportunities to improve project tools, templates and ways of working.
You will have experience of supporting projects, programmes or business activities and will understand the importance of accurate records, clear communication and meeting deadlines.
You will be confident using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and able to produce professional documents and reports. You will also be comfortable managing competing priorities, solving problems and adapting when circumstances change.
Experience of working in the public sector, knowledge of digital or IT projects, and familiarity with PRINCE2 or ITIL would be helpful, but these are desirable rather than essential.
In return, you will become part of a supportive team that values collaboration, welcomes new ideas and is committed to delivering high-quality outcomes for South Yorkshire.
