Business Development Director

Our client is an established, highly respected infrastructure services provider delivering specialist telecommunications, network, and electrical solutions across the UK. Role Summary As Business Development Director, you will define and execute strategic sales growth initiatives, expanding the firm's presence within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Tier 1 defence contractors.

You will bridge technical delivery with commercial strategy, leading end-to-end bids, nurturing senior client relationships, and navigating complex regulatory and security frameworks.

Key Responsibilities Define and execute growth strategies aligned with MOD procurement frameworks and national defence priorities. Identify, qualify, and pursue business opportunities across secure communications, network infrastructure, and electrical systems. Build and maintain senior-level relationships across the MOD, Tier 1 defence contractors, and system integrators. Lead the end-to-end bid lifecycle (including PQQ, ITT, and framework call-offs), ensuring full compliance with defence standards.

Establish strategic alliances and industry partnerships to enhance service capability and boost win probability. Ensure all business development activities conform to security clearance requirements, cyber security standards, and defence regulations. Provide ad-hoc bid and commercial support to the operations team for non-defence work streams as required. Required Skills and Experience Deep technical understanding of telco and electrical solutions (fixed/mobile networks, power distribution, critical systems, and site works).

Extensive experience in defence procurement, framework navigation (e.g., Crown Commercial Service, NVFI, DOSBG), and senior stakeholder management. Proven track record of securing multi-million-pound contracts and framework positions within defence estates and secure facilities. Strong background in commercial negotiation, contract structuring, bid strategy, and capture planning. Expert knowledge of risk management and compliance within security-sensitive environments
