An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planning Engineer to join a leading UK main contractor as part of their busy regional construction business. You will take full ownership of a high-profile £150m construction project based in Sheffield, playing a pivotal role in its successful delivery from site mobilisation through to completion. This is a flagship scheme that offers real visibility, responsibility and the chance to make a lasting impact.
Working closely with the project and commercial teams, you will be at the heart of project controls, driving programme certainty, managing risk and supporting effective decision‑making on site. This role is ideally suited to an experienced, site‑based planner who thrives in a hands‑on environment and enjoys being fully embedded within the delivery team.
Key Responsibilities- Take full responsibility for the planning and programming of a £150m construction project
- Develop, manage and maintain fully logic‑linked programmes using Primavera P6
- Lead short‑term and long‑term planning, progress updates and reporting
- Manage change events, programme revisions and impact assessments
- Support the commercial team with NEC contract requirements, including compensation events and extensions of time
- Work closely with site teams to ensure realistic sequencing and buildable programmes
- Identify and manage programme risk, constraints and mitigation strategies
- Provide clear, accurate programme information to senior stakeholders
- Proven experience as a Planning Engineer / Senior Planning Engineer within the UK construction industry
- Strong UK main contracting and site‑based planning experience
- In‑depth knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts
- High level of proficiency using Primavera P6
- Experience working on large, complex construction projects
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to challenge and influence project teams
- Organised, detail‑oriented and commercially aware
- £70-85,000 per annum
- Annual car allowance or choice of company car
